Terms of Use

These conditions apply whenever you browse a page, read material, or use a search tool on Mecklenburg County Criminal History. Use of the website signals acceptance. If you disagree with a condition, do not continue using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no government affiliation. It and its advertising partners do not provide tools for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) decisions. Its purpose is to help readers locate public criminal-record resources in Mecklenburg County and North Carolina. It is neither a private-investigation service nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no tie to a government office. It does not store official records, retrieve a file, conduct an official background check, or submit documents for a visitor.

The content identifies MCSO, North Carolina courts, the SBI, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry as official sources for different Mecklenburg County records. Public access depends on laws such as N.C.G.S. Chapter 132 and N.C.G.S. §7A-109, along with their restrictions. Some pages also connect to outside tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access
  • Run a bot, scraper, or automated collection tool against the pages
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Use site content for a housing, hiring, lending, or insurance decision
  • Threaten, harass, or stalk a person with information found here
  • Violate a federal, North Carolina, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked tool may not be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate. North Carolina's Article 27A prohibits misuse of state registry information and harassment of a registrant. Registry data supports lawful community awareness. It does not authorize vigilante conduct or discriminatory action.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create credit reports, background checks, or other consumer reports. Our advertising partners do not provide site tools for applicant screening, rental review, insurance pricing, or credit judgments. You must not use content from this site or a linked tool to:

  • Make any other decision regulated by the FCRA
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or public benefit where consumer-report rules apply
  • Set insurance terms or judge creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a housing applicant
  • Make a hiring or firing decision

A lawful check for an FCRA-regulated purpose must come from an appropriate official process or an FCRA-compliant provider, not this site.

5. No Legal Advice

The material is informational, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Mecklenburg County charge, conviction, warrant, or expunction rule affects an individual matter. A licensed North Carolina attorney can advise on those facts.

6. No Warranties

All content is supplied "as is," without a guarantee that:

  • An outside search result is complete or correct
  • A page contains no bug, error, or security weakness
  • Service will always be uninterrupted
  • Every detail is current, accurate, and complete

Charges, dismissals, expunctions, and agency procedures change. Gaps and delays can occur. Treat no site statement as an official representation by a court, sheriff, police department, or state agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to courts, law-enforcement agencies, state offices, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. We do not control those sites, their availability, pricing, data practices, or content. Review the destination's own terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Mecklenburg County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required to copy, distribute, modify, or create derivative material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim liability for damages arising from site use, linked services, or reliance on information found through either.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims or demands caused by your use of the site or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms. A dispute tied to site use must be brought in a court located in North Carolina.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions. A revision becomes effective when the updated terms appear on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. The affected provision is modified only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions can be submitted through the Contact page.
