Mecklenburg's 24-Hour Arrest Center
The MCSO Arrest Processing Center operates around the clock at 801 East Fourth Street in Charlotte. It is the countywide intake point, regardless of which local agency made the arrest. Staff capture demographics, electronic fingerprints, a digital booking photograph, property, charges, and bond or release information. Onsite fingerprint technicians work with SBI and FBI responses to confirm identity. Records and Release staff then update charges and bond after court, check holds, document transfers, and clear release.

A custodial arrest from Charlotte or one of the county's towns therefore creates an MCSO booking even though the originating narrative stays with the arresting agency.

Why Mecklenburg VINE Misses Bookings
VINE is a custody-notification system, not a complete Mecklenburg County arrest log. It can provide charges, bond, housing, court dates, and release notice for committed residents. Check identifiers across the report, booking, and court file. A charge label alone is not enough to confirm that two Mecklenburg County arrest entries refer to the same person.
Four Mecklenburg Arrest Record Layers

Recent Mecklenburg County Bookings
MCSO keeps arrest and resident information online for three years from arrest or release. A signed expunction order received by the Sheriff can support earlier removal. This retention rule means the official inquiry is a recent Mecklenburg County arrest display, not a lifelong archive. An older entry may require a request to the creating agency or clerk even though the arrest once appeared online.
Current custody has another limit. A jail roster can change after release or transfer, and VINE omits people who bonded out before commitment. Absence from one live view proves little. The search should also distinguish Resident Inquiry, Arrest Inquiry, and Civil Inquiry because each answers a different question.
Finding Mecklenburg's Arresting Agency
The arresting-agency field tells a reader where to request the narrative. CMPD records are held by the City of Charlotte, not by county administration. Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Matthews, Mint Hill, and Pineville police keep their own local reports. Custodial booking still converges at MCSO, and prosecution still converges at the Mecklenburg County clerk.

CMPD no longer issues local arrest-history reports. It refers those searches to the clerk, while its own incident report remains the source for the police narrative.
Mecklenburg Arrest Warrants After eWarrants
MCSO says online arrest and warrant inquiry data became unavailable on July 17, 2022 during the eWarrants transition. Since Mecklenburg moved to Odyssey in October 2023, some process information can appear with the related eCourts case, but visibility depends on case and process status. APC's Warrant Repository also retains hard-copy warrants issued before 2013, civil orders for arrest, restraining orders, grand-jury indictments, and governor's warrants.
Use a fallback chain: search the related Mecklenburg County court case, call APC at 980-314-5100, submit a narrow MCSO request, and ask the clerk about case process. Do not pay a caller who claims money will clear a warrant. MCSO states that it does not call to demand payment. A court, not a caller, issues or recalls the process.
Arrest Records vs Conviction Records
A Mecklenburg County arrest record proves that an agency took and processed a person on an accusation. It does not prove the charge was filed as booked or that guilt was established. The conviction record comes from the court's charge-level disposition and judgment. SBI may later match that outcome to the fingerprint-supported arrest cycle.
